Dairy products feature “anthotyros” cheese, yoghurt, gruyere, “kefalotyri” cheese, “myzithra” and “ksynomyzithra” cheeses, paired with cold cuts such as “apaki” smoked pork. There is a selection of fruits and fresh fruit salad, traditional Greek salad, extra virgin olive oil and olives. A local pasta soup offered is “ksynochondros”. Local specials include “kaltsounakia” with spinach, pies with greens, meat pie, “tzoulata”, and “anevates” pies. Omelettes and fried eggs are served with ingredients like “apaki” or “staka” butter. Recommended are the Cretan “dakos” rusks. Desserts include “ryzogalo” (rice pudding), cream-filled “bougatsa” pie, “kserotigana” (fritters), various spoon sweets and “lychnarakia” with sweet cheese filling.
