A typical “Mani’s Breakfast”, is based on local culinary options, including fresh ingredients carefully selected from the local markets. Beverages feature sage and “melissohorto” (local mint variety) from Mani, local tea variety from Taygetos Mountain, Greek coffee and fresh locally-selected orange and/or grapefruit juice. Traditional bread from the bakery, rusks, oil and sesame cookies and apple pies are served every day. Visitors should try local thyme honey, tahini (sesame seeds spread), homemade jams, traditional yoghurt, “sfela” or local feta cheese. There is also Mani’s sausage with orange or syglino (smoked pork meat boiled in cinnamon and orange), homemade traditional pies, flute-shaped pies with various ingredients, “travichtes” (beignet/pulled fried dough), traditional Mani’s galatopita (milk pie) or portokalopita (orange pie), loukoumades (fried dumplings topped with honey) and Mani’s halva (tahini based sweet). Local recommend the traditional “riganada” or “dakos” (rusks with oregano, capers and local olives), fresh free-range eggs from Mani made to order, including “strapatsada” (scrambled eggs with tomatoes) and delicious fresh fruit salad with a variety of seasonal fruits.
