Breakfast at the Aris Hotel includes a wide selection of local products and specialties. Beverages include coffees, teas, milk and freshly squeezed orange juice from local oranges. There is a selection of breads and bakery products such as local cookies and homemade cakes. Guests may try thyme honey -locally produced- various jams, Greek peanut butter, home produced olive oil and green and black olive paste. As for dairy products there is yoghurt, feta cheese and cold cuts. Boiled eggs are offered, paired with local tomatoes, homemade olives, pasteli bites (honey bar) and local cereals bars. Fresh and dried fruits, fruit compote, mini “dakos” rusks and cheese pies (“kalitsounia”) are also offered to guests.

Breakfast starts with Greek coffee, freshly baked cakes and cookies from the neighborhood bakery as well as a wide selection of bread products. Guests will also find a wide range of cheeses, cold cuts and vegetables. They can also order an omelet with fresh eggs with the ingredients of their choice. The Cretan corner features local products like a variety of olives, rusks, gruyere, thyme honey as well as cold refreshments made with various Cretan herbs.

The Greek breakfast buffet is based on Cretan cuisine featuring, for the most part, fresh local and traditional products. Certain dishes are prepared in front of the guests, such as fried eggs, “tiganites” (pancakes) and “strapatsada” (scrambled eggs with tomato). Guests will also find fresh fruits, vegetables and sweets as well as a selection of bread, cheeses, cold cuts and various hot dishes. Coffee, tea, juices and various herbal beverages such as sage, linden and chamomile are always available at the breakfast buffet.

Guests may also have local eggs, “strapatsada” (scrambled eggs and tomato), fresh vegetables, a variety of olives, and extra virgin Cretan olive oil. Herbal teas include “malotira”, “diktamo”, linden,”fliskouni””, “sarantadendri” and sage. The breakfast is complete with dried fruits, freshly cut fruit salad, and orange juice.

All recipes are made with virgin olive oil that is produced and packaged locally. Guests may accompany their meal with a traditionally brewed Greek coffee, hot tea, or herbal infusions like the traditional “sarantadendri”.

The Greek Breakfast at the Albatros Hotel is buffet style. Guests will start with Greek coffee, tea and Cretan beverages. There is feta, “ksinomyzithra” cheese and olives from Crete, paired with local vegetables, “kalitsounia” and traditional cheese pie. Recommended are the Cretan honey, traditional yoghurt, local rusks (“dakos”), village style omelet (with tomato, “apaki” (smoked pork) and feta, or with zucchini and potatoes.) There are also cold cuts, fresh fruits, juices, eggs, compotes, yoghurt with fruit, jams etc. Two traditional hot dishes are served every day: omelet and cheese pie or pie with wild greens. There is a special corner with various olive oils from Crete. Finally, guests may learn how to make a traditional “dakos” rusk using a guide with photographs and instructions.
