The Greek breakfast buffet offers a vast selection of dishes based on fresh local produce. There are many eggs dishes (fried, omelet with “staka” butter from Crete and sausages from Karditsa, “froutalia”, an omelette originating from Andros with fresh vegetables, or “kagianas”, scrambled eggs with tomato and cheese. Pies include “patsavouropita” with cheese or spinach, bougatsa (cream-filled phyllo pastry), mini “peinirli”, a Greek-style pizza boat with feta and salami from Lefkada, mini pies with “ksinomyzithra” cheese, dumplings with honey and cinnamon or feta cheese and the “batzina”, a traditional pie from Trikala with feta and zucchini. “Trahanas” (cracked wheat) is paired with gruyere from Naxos.
There is also selection of fruits and juices. Bakery products include sesame “koulouri” ring buns and other bread varieties. Dairy selections feature yoghurt and milk, cheeses (feta, kasseri and gruyere). Veggie lovers may opt for tomatoes with Kalamata olives or Greek mountain mushrooms with leek. For dessert there is a selection of cakes, halva jelly from Farsala, grape must cookies (moustokouloura), “melekouni”, a sesame/honey sweet from Rhodes as well as “soumada”, a bitter almond juice. French toasts with yoghurt mousse and petimezi (grape syrup), or rice pudding (ryzogalo) complete a full Greek breakfast.
