Hot dishes from the Cretan cuisine include village style sausage, cheese pie with “ksinomyzithra” cheese and mint, pie with greens, “sfouggato” omelet with tomato and oregano, and many more. Desserts feature cream-filled “bougatsa” pie, “ryzogalo” (rice pudding), “loukoumades” (honey dumplings) or “tiganites” (fritters). Traditional products like the Cretan “dakos” rusk, olives, olive oil, and raisins can be paired with yoghurt, as well as a selection of fresh fruits.
