Sweet treats include jams, milk pie (“galatopita”), spoon sweets and semolina pudding (halva with raisins and walnuts sprinkled with cinnamon), hot apple pie etc. Beverages include Greek coffee or a fresh juice to keep guests energised for the rest of the day.

The Mirabello Beach and Village serves breakfast based on gourmet delicacies with products and ingredients supplied by local producers. For starters, there is Greek coffee or herbal beverages, such as sage, “diktamo”, “malotyra”, chamomile or linden. There is fresh bread every day, various rusks, cookies and biscuits. The Olive Oil Bar serves 20 kinds of olive oil and a selection of olive varieties, honey varieties, homemade orange and apple jams, dried fruits, as well as walnuts, almonds and zucchini seeds. Guests will enjoy sheep’s yoghurt – plain or with honey and walnuts. There is also a wide selection of traditional Cretan cheeses such as gruyere, “kefalotyri”, feta, “anthotyros”, “myzithra”, “ksigalo” and “ksynomyzithra”. The cold cuts selection includes “apaki” (smoked pork) and village style sausages. There are also fresh fruits and local specialties such as “kalitsounia” (with “myzithra” and honey), “bougatsa” pie, cheese pie and pie with greens, “myzithra” pie, “sfouggato” (omelet with tomato and zucchini), and fried eggs with “apaki”. As for sweets, there are “kserotigana” (fritters), halva, “lychnarakia”, various spoon sweets and “loukoumades” (honey dumplings) prepared on the premises.

The breakfast buffet at the Marino Beach Hotel serves a wide selection of traditional delicacies. There is orange juice, coffee and tea, milk, bread, cakes and “pasta flora” jam tart. Guests will find boiled and fried eggs, sliced ham and cheese, salad (tomato and cucumber), yoghurt, honey, two kinds of jams and dried fruits. Hot dishes include village style omelet and vegetable “papoutsaki” (tomato, pepper, with grated feta cheese, oil, oregano, pepper). The Greek corner serves mountain tea and other herbal beverages (“malotira”), and offers “strapatsada” (scrambled eggs and tomato), local products like feta cheese, olives, extra virgin olive oil, “koukouvayia” or “dakos” (barley rusk with grated tomato, feta, oil and oregano) and orange cookies with sesame. The breakfast buffet features sweet treats like “ryzogalo” (rice pudding), tahini halva, cream-filled “galaktoboureko” “boureki” and “loukoumades” (honey dumplings.) The savoury selection serves onion and spinach pie.

Beverages include Greek and other coffees, teas and Cretan herbal beverages. There are various bakery products (barley buns, rusks, multi grain or sesame bread sticks, olive pies and cheese-bread). Capers, olives and sun dried tomatoes, dried fruits such as plums, apricots, figs and dates can be found daily at the breakfast buffet together with various dairy products such as sheep’s yoghurt, feta, gruyere, “kasseri” and “anthotyro” cheese. Hot dishes such as “kagiana” (eggs and tomato), giant beans, spinach and cheese pie are also offered. As for sweets, there is “ryzogalo” (rice pudding), “bougatsa” (cream-filled pie), walnut pie, “ravani” (syrupy semolina cake), and syrupy treats will phyllo such as baklava, “saragli” and “gianiotiko”.

Breakfast at the Kydon is based on the wealth of the Cretan land and includes a wide selection of rusks and bread varieties, bread rolls filled with “pichtogalo” cheese, milk, fresh fruit salad, real yoghurt and fresh orange juice. There are also cookies (with local olive oil, orange and fennel seeds), as well as “lychnarakia” (sweet myzithra pockets). Cheeses include “pichtogalo” from Chania, “malaka” and “kefalotyri”. Hot dishes offered are sun dried tomatoes baked in the oven, mini “kalitsounakia” with fresh wild greens, village style omelet with fresh mushrooms and “bougatsa” pie of Chania: this is a cheese pie made with “pichtogalo”, a fresh white cheese from sheep’s and goat’s milk. Fresh, almost transparent phyllo crust is coated with “stakovoutyro” butter and envelops the cream. This is a highly recommended dish, amongst the guests’ all-time favorites. Sweets of the day include tahini halva, “samali”, milk pies, mini cream-filled “galaktoboureko” and the king of Cretan sweets, the ancient Minoan “gastrin”.

Highly recommended is the traditional Cretan “dakos” (rusk). Dairy products include the famous Cretan gruyere, “kefalograviera”, “ksinomyzithra”, “allifoto” cheese and “ryzogalo” (rice pudding). There are also spoon sweets and tahini Halva. Semolina pudding (halva) is made at the hotel every day.
