The day starts with coffee or herbal beverages such as tea, chamomile, sage or juices, with a variety of cakes and cookies. The freshly baked bread (village style, wheat, barley, multi grey and rye) is paired with honey, jams made with various fruits, cheeses and cold cuts. Hot dishes from the Cretan cuisine include village style sausage, cheese pie with “ksinomyzithra” cheese and mint, pie with greens, “sfouggato” omelet with tomato and oregano, and many more. Desserts feature cream-filled “bougatsa” pie, “ryzogalo” (rice pudding), “loukoumades” (honey dumplings) or “tiganites” (fritters). Traditional products like the Cretan “dakos” rusk, olives, olive oil, and raisins can be paired with yoghurt, as well as a selection of fresh fruits.

A variety of breads is offered, Cretan rusks and local cookies. The strained yoghurt is paired with homemade jams, organic thyme honey and handmade spoon sweets. Guests may also try the pancakes, or “tiganites”, with brown sugar, cinnamon and thyme honey. The traditional barley rusk “dakos” can be combined with onions, tomato and basil or olive paste. Cheeses like feta, “ksinomyzithra”, gruyere and “manouri” are served with a variety of cold cuts. Specialty dishes include the traditional “grandma’s sfougato”, an omelet made with free range eggs, organic tomatoes and vegetables. The smoked pork (“apaki”) and village style sausage accompany classic fried eggs. “Kolokythokeftedes”, cooked in virgin olive oil, consist of organic zucchinis, fresh oregano and mint. The traditional “chylopites” is pasta with a sauce made with fresh tomato, thyme and oregano, garnished with Cretan “anthotyro” cheese.
There are also fresh fruits, juices, coffee, various herbal teas (chamomile, “dictamo”) and milk. Desserts include walnut pie with honey syrup, orange pie with homemade phyllo, and traditional vanilla “submarine”.

The Greek breakfast buffet offers traditional dishes made from fresh ingredients. For starters there is freshly baked bread, biscuits and cakes. Guests will find barley rusks, carob bread sticks, mini “dakos” rusks with “myzithra” cheese and oregano, hot pies of Sfakia, “tiganites” (pancakes), “kserotigana” (fritters), and traditional “avgokalamara”. There is also “pasteli” (sesame and honey paste), “lychnarakia” with cinnamon, “skaltsounia” of Chania with wild greens, mini fennel pies (“marathopitaki”), “kalitsounia” (with “myzithra” cheese and spearmint from the garden).
Dairy products include “‘ryzogalo” (rice pudding), local yoghurt, Cretan gruyere, “pichtogalo” from Chania (the well known “ksynomyzithra” cheese), fresh “anthotyros” cheese and dry “anthotyros” cheese with olive oil. Eggs are cooked in various ways including the “strapatsada” (scrambled eggs with tomato and smoked “apaki” pork or zucchini). There are also fresh and dried fruits, as well as freshly squeezed orange juice. Spoon sweets, olives, fresh olive oil, thyme honey and tahini are traditional products recommended for their nutritional value.

The Greek breakfast at the Avra Hotel includes a wide selection of dishes and local products. There is bread, local honey and handmade jams. The eggs can be cooked in various ways, the star being “strapatsada” (local dish with scrambled eggs and tomato). There are also fresh fruits, tomatoes, cold cuts, olives produced locally, feta cheese, yoghurt and virgin olive oil. Desserts include “ladokouloura” oil cookies of Lefkada, handmade cake, the handmade “tsoureki” (sweet bread) and various cookies. Guests will also find peach compote and beverages such as tea, chamomile, coffee, orange juice and fresh milk.

At breakfast, the hotel owners give a personal warm welcome to guests. The Avli does not feature a buffet. Guests order from the menu and the cook prepares it on the spot. Morning visitors find a basket with a variety of breads, “anthogalo” (fresh cream), a variety of local goat’s butter, fresh butter, homemade jam and grandma’s cake, honey from Sfakia and freshly squeezed juice (orange, apple, pineapple, peach and tomato). There is also tea from a mixture of Cretan herbs, and a selection of classic beverages. Guests can also try traditional yoghurt with thyme honey and fresh fruits. Other specialties include fried gruyere in batter (“saganaki”),”hondro”” (ground wheat soaked in milk with raisins), “ryzogalo” (rice pudding), strapatsada”” (scrambled eggs and tomato), “anthogalo” with “apaki” (local smoked pork or bacon), “anthotyro” cheese omelet, goat’s cheese, tomato and local sausage, “sfouggato” omelet with “anthotyro” cheese and zucchini. There is also the option of local fried sausage or the selection of Cretan cheeses and local cold cuts, pie of Sfakia (pie filled with myzithra and goat’s cheese served with walnuts and honey) and “tiganopita”, a pie served with sugar and cinnamon.

The Avantis Suites serves a wide selection of traditional dishes at breakfast. There are various bread products, bread sticks, cheese bread, raisin bread and olive bread. Guests may try various jams, pure honey, spoon sweets (such as quince, sour cherry, carrot and grape, peach) and mixed compotes. As for juices, there is orange, sour cherry, peach and mixed. Coffee is paired with biscuits as well as “moustokouloura” (cookies with grape must). There is a wide selection of cheeses and cold cuts. Hot dishes include omelet, boiled and fried eggs, spinach and cheese pie, cheese pie, pie with wild greens, chicken pie, potato pie, zucchini pie, mushroom pie, pie with minced meat, and sausages. As for sweets, there are “loukoumades” (honey dumplings), tarts, “tiganites” (pancakes), various cakes, pasta flora jam tart, “ryzogalo” (rice pudding), dairy creams, mini “bougatsa” pies with cream and semolina pudding (halva).

The Greek Breakfast at the Avalon is based on local products and recipes of Zakynthos. There is a variety of breads, handmade rusks, cake with honey, semolina pudding (halva), traditional buns with olives, honey or “tahini”. Guests will find traditional pies with local cheeses (“ladotyri”). There are also handmade marmalades, honey, and delicious spoon sweets. Other desserts include “mandolato”, (nougat) and pasteli (honey and nuts bar). The local cheeses (“ladograviera”, “ladotyri” and “prentsa”) are worth trying. A specialty dish is the “strapatsada” (scrambled eggs and tomato) with “ladotyri” of Zakynthos. Breakfast is complete with sweet or sour ‘trahanas” with fried bread and grated goat’s cheese.

A rich breakfast buffet is served at the Aurora with Greek handmade products. There are two types of fresh bread from the local bakery. Fresh fruit such as apples, oranges, melon and water melon (when in season) are also offered. Guests will find strained yoghurt, butter, ham, yellow cheese, jams, handmade spoon sweets, honey, fresh milk, boiled eggs, handmade cakes, coffee, natural orange juice, black tea, chamomile, as well as Greek coffee. Hot dishes include a “twisted” Macedonian style spinach pie, “loukoumades” (dumplings with chocolate or honey), and omelettes, plain or with sausages.

Our breakfast has been certified as “Greek Breakfast” by the Hellenic Hotels Chamber offering feta cheese, olives, fresh Greek vegetables, rice stuffed vine leaves , traditional pies, bougatsa cream pie & a variety of traditional syrup sweets from different regions of Greece. Finally, it offers a wide range of beverages to choose from. The breakfast area is open from 07.00 until 11.00.

Specialty dishes include various omelettes, “strapatsada” (scrambled eggs with tomato and feta, “Sfouggato” (omelet with zucchini), various pies with traditional Cretan phyllo dough (cheese pies, wild greens pies, spinach pies, leeks pies, pies with “myzithra” cheese, “skaltsounia”, “lychnarakia”, “bougatsa”). Sweets feature semolina pudding (halva with honey and cinnamon), “loukoumades” (dumplings) and “tiganites” (fritters) with honey, traditional “ksirotigana” with honey, various creams and “ryzogalo” (rice pudding). Beverages include herbal teas like sage, chamomile, “malotira”, “dictamo”) as well as traditional “soumada” (bitter almond) and Greek coffee.

The Atlantica Princess Hotel offers a rich breakfast with strong Greek elements, highlighting products and aromas of the island. Whole wheat bread products, a selection of cookies, Cretan rusks and a wide variety of breads are available daily. Traditional pies such as pies with greens, cheese pies, pies with sausages, soups like “trahanas” and bean soup, are some of the hot dishes served. There are also homemade jams, dried and fresh fruit, mixed fruit juices and freshly squeezed juice with local oranges. The fresh eggs are cooked in various ways, like the traditional “strapatsada” with scrambled eggs and tomato. There is also a variety of dairy produce of the region such as feta cheese, “anthotyro”, “manouri”, gruyere and yoghurt. For dessert there are
“loukoumades” (honey dumplings), cream-filled “bougatsa” pie, home made “ryzogalo” (rice pudding), a selection of cakes, “tsoureki” (sweet bread), home made spoon sweets and honey from local producers. Guests should try the traditional Rhodian “melekounia” (nuts and honey bars) and many more delicacies. Beverages include mountain tea and Greek coffee.
